ourstory

Samantha's Purpose was co-founded by Jose "Manny" & Michelle Garcia and inspired by their daughter, Samantha, who has Cerebral Palsy.

Samantha's Purpose was founded to allow Michelle and Manny to fulfill a promise they made to Samantha, that her disability would have a "PURPOSE".

When Samantha was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, her parents were scared. They felt overwhelmed by all the new information they had to learn. However, they soon realized that they had the power to educate others, provide much needed financial assistance for services, special needs equipment and programs and spread awareness and understanding of Cerebral Palsy.

As a result, Samantha’s parents (and now her brothers) have become passionate advocates for Cerebral Palsy and the individuals and families affected by it. They want to ensure that everyone is aware of the struggles faced by those diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy; as well as, the parents, siblings and family members of individuals living with Cerebral Palsy.

Samantha’s family, together with their close community, are determined to break down the stigma and create a world where people living with varying disabilities can thrive.

Samantha's Purpose fundraises to provide:

  • funding to events, programs, schools and camps that are fully inclusive and support and improve the quality of life of children with Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities in the form of grants or sponsorships.

  • provide grants for equipment, alternative and traditional therapy, and personal care items.

  • provides scholarships to help with the cost of summer camp, holiday break camps or private school tuition.  Scholarships are paid directly to the provider.

  • provides guidance and support to families of children with Cerebral Palsy by helping them navigate the maze of insurance, government programs, education and doctors.

"We started Samantha's Purpose because I made a promise to Samantha: her Cerebral Palsy diagnosis wouldn't hold her back from making a difference in this world. I told her that her challenges would always have a purpose, and through HER organization, we're making sure her impact is felt."

- MICHELLE COFFEY-GARCIA
